Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Extensive moldmaking, tool-and-die, injection mold building, or precision tooling experience

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing complex injection molds and tooling

  • Experience debugging new molds following sampling and identifying root causes of tooling issues

  • Experience performing final fitting, finishing, and assembly of molds

  • Experience making precision adjustments to meet dimensional and functional requirements

  • Proficiency with SolidWorks for reviewing mold designs and engineering models

  • Knowledge of precision machining and manufacturing processes

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T

  • Experience supporting urgent tooling breakdowns and scheduled mold maintenance

  • Experience coordinating mold repair, build, and assembly activities

Preferred Skills

  • Mastercam experience

  • Wire EDM or sinker EDM experience

  • CNC machining experience

  • Injection molding manufacturing experience

  • Experience training or supervising moldmakers, apprentices, or machine operators

  • Experience working in an ISO-certified manufacturing environment

  • Technical certification, apprenticeship, or journeyman-level training in moldmaking or tool and die

  • Experience supporting prototype, development, and production tooling

  • Knowledge of design-for-manufacturability principles

  • Experience working with high-tolerance molds and precision tooling

Job Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex injection molds and tooling

  • Support new-tool debugging after sampling

  • Identify root causes of dimensional, mechanical, molding, and tooling issues

  • Complete final fitting, finishing, and assembly of new molds

  • Perform precision adjustments to ensure proper mold fit and function

  • Respond to urgent mold breakdowns and restore tooling to production

  • Perform scheduled mold maintenance and repair activities

  • Review mold designs, models, and modifications using SolidWorks

  • Interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T requirements

  • Coordinate tool modifications and improvements with engineering and design teams

  • Provide design-for-manufacturability and tooling improvement recommendations

  • Schedule and prioritize mold builds, repairs, maintenance, and assembly work

  • Coordinate tooling activities with production schedules and delivery requirements

  • Track tooling status, technical risks, and expected completion dates

  • Provide status updates to engineering and production leadership

  • Train moldmakers, apprentices, and machine operators on mold repair and assembly methods

  • Provide technical guidance during mold fitting, debugging, and troubleshooting

  • Support machining, fitting, polishing, finishing, and assembly operations

  • Coordinate work with CNC machinists, EDM operators, quality personnel, and production teams

  • Support prototype, development, and production tooling projects

  • Inspect completed tooling for dimensional accuracy, operation, and production readiness

  • Maintain mold repair records, tooling documentation, and modification history

Pay: 65k-83k/year
