Summary: Sets up and operates industrial cutting equipment to measure, mark, and cut raw materials according to blueprints and production specifications.

Job Requirements

  • Experience operating band saws, circular saws, or similar industrial cutting equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to measure and mark raw materials accurately
  • Experience cutting materials to specified dimensions
  • Knowledge of basic shop measurement tools
  • Ability to verify cut lengths and dimensions
  • Ability to handle and position raw materials safely

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or machine-shop environment
  • Experience cutting metal, plastic, or other industrial materials
  • Experience using tape measures, calipers, squares, and layout tools
  • Knowledge of material types, thicknesses, and cutting requirements
  • Experience performing first-piece and in-process inspections
  • Experience with material handling equipment

Job Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate band saws, circular saws, and other cutting equipment
  • Review blueprints, work orders, and production specifications
  • Measure and mark raw materials before cutting
  • Cut materials to required lengths, angles, and dimensions
  • Select appropriate blades and machine settings based on material requirements
  • Load, position, and secure materials on cutting equipment
  • Inspect completed cuts for dimensional accuracy
  • Identify and separate nonconforming materials
  • Replace worn or damaged saw blades as needed
  • Maintain cutting equipment and work areas
  • Record production quantities and material usage
  • Perform additional material preparation and shop-support duties as assigned


Pay Details: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour
