Firmware Engineer
Firmware Engineer role focused on bare-metal embedded development, ARM Cortex-M firmware, I2C interfaces, debugging, product qualification, and manufacturing support.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of industry experience with bare-metal firmware development
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M0 or M0+ embedded solutions
- Experience developing embedded firmware for systems ranging from sub-32KB Flash and larger
- Experience using GPIO pins, ADCs, and interrupts
- Understanding of I2C communication
- Experience debugging and supporting bit-banged I2C buses
- Experience developing page-based host interfaces for I2C slave devices
- Experience with Small Form Factor devices or CMIS
- Working knowledge of SWD-style debugging
- Experience with source code control systems
- Experience performing regular source code check-ins
- Experience participating in peer code reviews
- English reading and writing proficiency
Preferred Skills
- Firmware experience with active high-speed IO cables
- Firmware experience with thermal loopbacks
- Experience working with communication chip manufacturers
- Experience supporting high-speed IO cable product development
- Experience supporting product qualification, testing, and manufacturing
- Experience supporting manufacturing application developers
- Experience documenting firmware for long-term support
- Ability to travel to manufacturing plants during product ramp-up as needed
Job Responsibilities
- Design, develop, debug, and support firmware for active high-speed IO cables and thermal loopbacks
- Support firmware development for product teams converting high-speed IO cable concepts into manufacturable products
- Work with customers and communication chip manufacturers on firmware-related requirements and issues
- Provide firmware support for communication setting tuning
- Create backdoor access points or interfaces as needed to support engineering activities
- Work with developers responsible for manufacturing applications
- Support product qualification, testing, and manufacturing activities
- Troubleshoot firmware issues during development, qualification, testing, and manufacturing
- Document firmware so it can be supported by other team members
- Mentor other firmware team members as needed
- Visit manufacturing plants during product ramp-up when required
Pay Details: $115,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year
