SMT Machine Operator responsible for operating, setting up, maintaining, and troubleshooting SMT pick-and-place equipment for PCB assembly production.

Job Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of experience operating SMT or pick-and-place machines in an electronics manufacturing environment
  • Experience with PCB assembly processes
  • Basic understanding of electronic components
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Ability to read Bills of Materials
  • Ability to read work instructions
  • Experience operating SMT assembly line equipment, including:
    • Pick-and-place machines
    • Screen printers
    • Reflow ovens
    • Board handling equipment
  • Experience loading and verifying components, feeders, reels, and trays
  • Experience setting up machine programs and tooling
  • Experience performing machine changeovers for different PCB assemblies
  • Experience performing first-article verification
  • Experience troubleshooting SMT machine errors, alarms, and placement issues
  • Experience performing routine preventive maintenance
  • Experience with basic mechanical and electrical machine adjustments

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate SMT assembly line equipment according to production schedules
  • Set up SMT pick-and-place machines for PCB assembly production
  • Load components, feeders, reels, and trays
  • Verify component setup before production runs
  • Set up machine programs for PCB assemblies
  • Set up tooling for SMT production
  • Perform machine changeovers for different PCB assemblies
  • Perform first-article verification
  • Make machine adjustments as required
  • Monitor machine performance during production runs
  • Troubleshoot machine errors
  • Troubleshoot machine alarms
  • Troubleshoot placement issues
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance
  • Perform basic mechanical adjustments
  • Perform basic electrical adjustments
  • Coordinate with maintenance or engineering teams for advanced machine repairs
  • Inspect assembled PCBs for placement accuracy
  • Inspect assembled PCBs for polarity
  • Inspect assembled PCBs for defects
  • Ensure PCB assemblies meet IPC standards and quality requirements
  • Identify root causes of production defects
  • Assist with corrective actions for quality issues
  • Maintain production documentation
  • Maintain quality documentation
  • Follow safety procedures
  • Follow ESD control requirements
  • Follow cleanroom requirements
  • Handle and store electronic components properly
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area


Pay Details: $22.00 to $24.00 per hour
