Production Planning & Purchasing Manager responsible for production scheduling, materials planning, inventory control, purchasing, and supplier management in a high-volume manufacturing plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred
  • Approximately 10 years of supervisory or management experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience scheduling production for a large product portfolio
  • Experience supporting 500+ SKUs
  • Experience with production planning
  • Experience with capacity planning
  • Experience with inventory management
  • Experience with purchasing and procurement
  • Experience managing raw material procurement
  • Experience issuing purchase orders based on production schedules and inventory needs
  • Experience with supplier management
  • Experience with vendor contract negotiation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Ability to spend significant time on the production floor
  • Ability to work around heat, noise, odors, and moving machinery
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hearing protection, safety glasses, and hairnet
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work 8–12+ hour shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing operation

  • Experience in plastics, EPS, thermoforming, consumer products, or high-speed manufacturing environments

  • Experience with food safety systems, including GMP, HACCP, and SQF

Responsibilities

  • Schedule production across multiple product lines, including foam, straw, cutlery, specialty product, and extruder lines
  • Coordinate production schedules with planning and customer service teams to meet customer demand
  • Monitor order flow and prioritize production based on capacity constraints and customer requirements
  • Maximize equipment utilization and production efficiency
  • Maintain inventory levels that support customer service goals
  • Support current products and new product launches
  • Serve as backup for Production Managers when needed
  • Procure raw materials, including foam beads, plastic pellets, packaging materials, inks, and maintenance supplies
  • Issue purchase orders based on production schedules and inventory needs
  • Negotiate supplier agreements, pricing, service contracts, and freight savings
  • Manage supplier relationships and evaluate market conditions
  • Coordinate material receipts, invoicing, and Accounts Payable processes
  • Manage disposal or sale of obsolete and surplus materials
  • Work with production supervisors, managers, and hourly employees to monitor schedules and output
  • Participate in plant initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Support GMP, HACCP, SQF, food safety, and quality compliance programs
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional operational improvement projects
  • Track production scheduling, inventory control, procurement, and vendor performance metrics


Pay Details: $70,000.00 to $72,000.00 per year
