Engine Development Engineer
Develops, tests, calibrates, and analyzes engine and aftertreatment systems using performance and emissions dynamometer testing.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1+ years of experience with engine development, engine control system development, or engine component/subsystem development.
- Experience developing engine test plans and supporting dynamometer testing.
- Experience analyzing engine test data and documenting technical results.
- Experience with engineering problem-solving methods.
- Experience supporting engine calibration or control system development.
Preferred Skills
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in performance and emissions development for heavy-duty diesel engines.
- Experience using controller development and calibration tools.
- 2+ years of experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), modeling, and optimization techniques.
- Experience with GT-Power.
- Experience with National Instruments DIAdem.
- Experience with MATLAB and related toolboxes, including MBC, CAGE, and Simulink.
- Experience with diesel aftertreatment components and systems.
- Experience developing or calibrating base engine software features.
Job Responsibilities
- Share responsibility for management and utilization of a performance and emissions dynamometer.
- Define detailed engine test plans and schedule dynamometer testing activities.
- Develop work orders and test requirements for test cell operators.
- Prepare engines for testing.
- Develop assembly and instrumentation work orders.
- Analyze engine performance and emissions test results.
- Present test results and support technical review discussions.
- Calibrate base engine software features.
- Support development of new engine control software features.
- Provide technical guidance for performance, calibration, applications, and related engineering activities.
- Support engine hardware development.
- Support aftertreatment hardware development.
- Use dynamometer testing and engineering analysis to evaluate engine and emissions system performance.
Pay Details: $39.00 to $43.00 per hour
