Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six years of relevant engineering experience, or graduate degree with a minimum of four years of relevant experience
  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance, or clearance active within the previous two years
  • Favorable polygraph required at start
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling
  • Experience designing and developing critical mechanical hardware
  • Experience developing precision mechanisms and electromechanical hardware
  • Experience generating technical data packages, including part and assembly drawings
  • Experience developing mechanical subsystem test plans and procedures
  • Experience performing component and system-level testing
  • Experience supporting prototype development, hardware integration, and qualification activities
  • Knowledge of configuration management and product development processes
  • Ability to work hands-on with hardware in a laboratory environment
  • Experience supporting formal design reviews, including PDR and CDR

Preferred Skills

  • Experience designing precision mechanisms
  • Experience developing mechatronic systems
  • Experience packaging electronic modules and hardware
  • Experience accounting for thermal and structural loading in mechanical designs
  • Experience optimizing designs for size, weight, and power

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical process design, development, qualification, and testing activities
  • Design complex mechanical, precision-mechanism, and electromechanical hardware
  • Support requirements definition and system architecture development
  • Generate and evaluate mechanical design concepts
  • Perform material-selection and engineering trade studies
  • Conduct design sensitivity and optimization studies
  • Develop preliminary and final mechanical designs
  • Create technical data packages, part drawings, assembly drawings, and design documentation
  • Prototype, assemble, integrate, and test mechanical components and assemblies
  • Develop mechanical subsystem test plans and procedures
  • Perform component and system testing and evaluation
  • Support preliminary design reviews, critical design reviews, peer reviews, and other technical reviews
  • Implement approved product and engineering changes
  • Participate in multidisciplinary mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering design activities
  • Apply configuration management, purchasing, quality, and product-development processes
  • Provide technical direction to designers, technicians, and manufacturing operators
  • Support field testing and system demonstrations as the mechanical engineering representative
  • Evaluate thermal, structural, packaging, and mechanical integration requirements
  • Support design maturation from initial concept through integration, qualification, and test


Pay Details: $54.00 to $72.00 per hour
