Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Instrumentation and controls engineering experience
  • Experience with industrial automation and control systems
  • Experience creating instrument datasheets
  • Experience developing input/output lists
  • Experience creating process control sheets and related engineering documentation
  • Experience sizing control valves
  • Experience sizing flow measurement elements
  • Experience developing fire and gas instrumentation datasheets
  • Knowledge of motor control systems
  • Knowledge of International Electrotechnical Commission standards and applicable international electrical codes
  • Ability to interpret process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and control-system documentation

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Allen-Bradley programmable logic controllers
  • Experience with GE Mark VIe turbine control systems
  • Experience designing instrumentation for fire and gas detection systems
  • Experience with turbine, power generation, oil and gas, chemical, or process-industry control systems
  • Knowledge of control panels, field instruments, transmitters, switches, analyzers, and final control elements
  • Experience developing instrument indexes, cable schedules, loop diagrams, and control narratives

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop instrument datasheets and technical specifications
  • Create and maintain input/output lists
  • Develop process control sheets and instrumentation documentation
  • Size and select control valves and flow elements
  • Prepare fire and gas detection instrument datasheets
  • Select instruments, transmitters, switches, control valves, and related field devices
  • Design automation, instrumentation, and motor-control systems
  • Review piping and instrumentation diagrams for control and instrumentation requirements
  • Develop instrument indexes, equipment lists, and control-system schedules
  • Apply applicable IEC standards and electrical-code requirements
  • Coordinate instrumentation requirements with process, electrical, mechanical, and automation disciplines
  • Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical submittals
  • Support control-system hardware selection for Allen-Bradley PLC and GE Mark VIe platforms
  • Develop control narratives, alarm requirements, and system design documentation
  • Support equipment installation, checkout, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities


Pay Details: $40.00 to $54.00 per hour
