Project Electrical Engineer responsible for leading the design, integration, testing, and implementation of complex power and control systems for robotic and electromechanical systems.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field with an electrical concentration

  • Minimum 7 years of practical electrical engineering experience

  • U.S. citizenship required

  • Experience in concept development, analysis, simulation, design, drawing, assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of complex electrical, electromechanical, and automated or robotic systems

  • Experience leading system or subsystem electrical design efforts

  • Experience supervising or mentoring engineers or technicians

  • Experience generating designs from incomplete or high-level requirements

  • Experience participating in design reviews

  • Experience working with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams

  • Experience selecting and integrating commercial off-the-shelf electrical and electronic equipment

  • Experience selecting and sizing electrical and electronic components and wiring devices

  • Experience with embedded microprocessor or single-board computer based control systems

  • Experience defining signals, sensors, actuators, and I/O requirements

  • Experience designing and integrating data communication interfaces including Ethernet, USB, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, SPI, I2C, and CAN

  • Experience with DC power systems design

  • Ability to calculate and estimate system power and energy requirements

  • Experience designing wiring, cabling, and grounding systems for electrical noise and EMI mitigation

  • Ability to create and read detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, and block diagrams

  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, communication analyzers, insulation testers, spectrum analyzers, CTDR, OTDR, and optical power meters

  • Proficiency with engineering software such as Altium Designer, SPICE, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, MathCAD, and MATLAB

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in marine, underwater, or robotic systems environments

  • Experience with ROVs, AUVs, sonar systems, or related electromechanical systems

  • Knowledge of industry, technical, and military standards including IEEE, ANSI, IEC, ISO, NEMA, NEC, and MIL standards

  • Practical technician skills including assembly, wiring, soldering, and cabling

  • Experience with fiber-optics

  • Experience with printed circuit board design

  • Experience with brushless motor drives, robotics, and automation

  • Experience designing, analyzing, and tuning closed-loop feedback control systems

  • Experience with low- and medium-voltage single-phase and three-phase power systems

  • Experience applying machine safety systems and standards

  • Experience with programming languages or scripting

  • Ability to travel for pre-planned domestic, international, offshore, or onboard assignments

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical system or subsystem design activities for complex projects

  • Produce electrical and control system designs for robotic and electromechanical systems

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor small teams of senior and junior electrical engineers as needed

  • Develop design solutions from incomplete or high-level technical requirements

  • Perform electrical analysis, simulation, design, integration, troubleshooting, and testing

  • Prepare for and participate in regular design reviews

  • Coordinate with mechanical, software, systems, and other engineering disciplines

  • Support assembly, build, and test activities for developed systems

  • Select and integrate commercial off-the-shelf equipment and develop required interfaces

  • Design control systems using embedded controllers, sensors, actuators, and I/O devices

  • Develop communication interfaces and electrical interconnect solutions

  • Calculate system power and energy requirements

  • Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, and system block diagrams

  • Use CAD, simulation, and analysis software to support electrical design and validation

  • Support project execution with technical judgment, design accountability, and hands-on engineering involvement

Pay: 46-62/hr

Pay Details: $46.00 to $62.00 per hour
