Electrical Design Engineer responsible for designing, documenting, and supporting electrical building systems for commercial and institutional projects.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline

  • 3+ years of electrical design experience in the MEP or building systems industry

  • Proficiency with Revit

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD

  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code standards

  • Knowledge of local electrical regulations

  • Experience with power distribution systems

  • Experience with grounding techniques

  • Experience performing electrical load calculations

  • Experience selecting electrical equipment

  • Experience creating electrical design documentation for permitting and field execution

  • Experience with field administration tasks, including submittal reviews and onsite coordination

  • Experience performing voltage drop calculations

  • Experience performing short-circuit calculations

Preferred Skills

  • EIT certification

  • PE license

  • Commercial building systems experience

  • Institutional building systems experience

  • Experience with lighting design

  • Experience with single-line diagrams

  • Experience selecting transformers, switchgear, and lighting control panels

  • Experience supporting system startups and performance testing

  • Experience guiding junior technical staff

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design and implementation phases for commercial and institutional building systems

  • Create and verify electrical schematics

  • Develop lighting layouts

  • Perform load assessments

  • Create single-line diagrams for building electrical systems

  • Produce design sets using Revit and AutoCAD

  • Prepare electrical documentation for permitting and field execution

  • Coordinate electrical designs with project leads, architects, external partners, and building trade teams

  • Resolve electrical design challenges during project development

  • Integrate electrical systems with other building trades

  • Perform electrical analyses, including voltage drop and short-circuit calculations

  • Select transformers, switchgear, lighting control panels, and related electrical hardware

  • Maintain electrical specifications and project records

  • Confirm electrical designs comply with NEC standards and local regulations

  • Provide field support by responding to electrical design inquiries

  • Review submittals

  • Perform onsite assessments to verify installation quality

  • Track electrical design timelines and financial goals

  • Communicate electrical task status to project stakeholders

  • Guide junior staff on electrical design standards and technical requirements

  • Support performance testing and system startups

Pay: 130k-150k/year
