Controls Designer responsible for developing protection and control design documentation for FACTS power transmission systems and related electrical equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience, or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of controls design experience.

  • Experience designing protection and control systems.

  • Experience creating electrical schematics, logic diagrams, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, grounding details, and cable schedules.

  • Experience developing Bills of Material.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Proficiency with MicroStation.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Experience supporting electrical design documentation within established quality requirements.

  • Experience working with ISO 9001 quality systems or related quality procedures.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Flexible AC Transmission Systems.

  • Experience with fixed series capacitors, static VAR compensation, or synchronous condenser systems.

  • Experience supporting utility-scale power transmission or substation projects.

  • Experience developing standardized protection and control documentation.

  • Experience with cost reduction, design improvement, process improvement, or automation initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design custom protection and control solutions for FACTS projects.

  • Develop physical layouts, schematics, logic diagrams, wiring and interconnection drawings, grounding designs, and cable schedules.

  • Develop control hardware documentation for project orders and proposals.

  • Create and maintain Bills of Material for electrical control designs.

  • Ensure consistency and accuracy across protection and control design documentation.

  • Support standardization and continuous improvement of control documentation.

  • Coordinate technical design activities with engineering and project teams.

  • Support project requirements related to specifications, schedule, and cost.

  • Interface with principal engineers, control engineers, civil engineers, electrical designers, project managers, and engineering teams.

  • Support cost reduction initiatives involving vendor selection, design improvements, process improvements, automation, and new product introduction.

  • Support project quality procedures and ISO 9001-related activities.

Pay: 33-44/hr

Pay Details: $33.00 to $44.00 per hour
