Plasma Table Programmer / Mechanical Designer responsible for fabrication drawing review, plasma cutting preparation, CAD detailing, and production support for structural and mechanical components.

Job Requirements

  • Associate degree in Drafting, Design, or related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Knowledge of mechanical and structural design.

  • Experience with field layout and bulk material handling systems.

  • Experience reviewing fabrication drawings and identifying parts requiring plasma cutting.

  • Ability to review drawings and nesting layouts for accuracy and completeness.

  • Ability to troubleshoot plasma table software and machine-related issues.

  • Ability to travel as required for site visits and field measurements.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software or comparable CAD platforms.

  • Experience with ProNest or comparable nesting software.

  • Experience developing 3D models, fabrication drawings, installation drawings, and equipment specifications.

  • Knowledge of steel plate nesting and material utilization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review fabrication drawings to determine which components require plasma cutting.

  • Identify irregularities or special fabrication requirements that may require modifications.

  • Review drawings and nesting layouts for accuracy and completeness before release.

  • Make or coordinate necessary corrections prior to submission.

  • Measure remnant steel plates, assign remnant numbers, and maintain available plate inventory.

  • Troubleshoot plasma table software and equipment issues.

  • Prepare and deliver printed nesting documents containing work order numbers and material specifications.

  • Coordinate plasma cutting requirements with engineering, shop supervision, steel purchasing, and plasma table operations.

  • Develop detailed 3D models, drawings, and mechanical equipment specifications when plasma programming workload allows.

  • Produce approval drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings.

  • Perform site visits and field measurements as required.



Pay Details: $50,000.00 to $55,000.00 per year
