Project Manager (Capital Projects)

Automation Project Manager responsible for leading capital projects from conceptual design through startup, including controls, automation, equipment integration, and plant acceptance activities.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Minimum 5 years of project management experience in the food and beverage industry.

• Experience managing large capital projects.

• Experience implementing plant automation systems, including MES, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial controls.

• Experience managing projects from conceptual design through startup.

• Experience with cost estimating, technical specifications, and project schedule management.

• Experience reviewing and managing P&IDs.

• Experience supporting equipment installation, I/O checkout, startup, and plant acceptance.

• Experience directing field contractors across multiple trades.

• Experience working with OEM technicians and plant personnel during installation and commissioning activities.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in the dairy industry.

• Experience with OEM equipment specification and selection.

• Experience designing or specifying automation panels and control hardware.

• Experience supporting PLC ladder logic programming.

• Experience with HMI application development or implementation.

• Experience with industrial network integration.

• Experience supporting plant controls and automation infrastructure.

• Experience providing technical direction to engineers, maintenance personnel, and operations teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage capital projects from conceptual design through installation, startup, and final plant acceptance.

• Develop project cost estimates, equipment specifications, and execution plans.

• Manage project timelines and technical deliverables.

• Review and manage P&IDs throughout project development and execution.

• Coordinate field installation activities with contractors from multiple trades.

• Coordinate with OEM technicians during equipment installation and commissioning.

• Support installation, I/O checkout, startup, and acceptance testing.

• Develop and review specifications for OEM equipment, automation panels, and control hardware.

• Provide technical direction for PLC ladder logic programming and HMI applications.

• Coordinate automation, controls, and network integration requirements for capital projects.

• Support integration of MES, PLC, HMI, and related control systems.

• Provide technical guidance to engineering, maintenance, and operations personnel.

• Troubleshoot automation and controls issues during project implementation and startup.

Pay Details: $100,000.00 to $120,000.00 per year
