Technical Writer responsible for developing, maintaining, and standardizing technical, project management, and compliance documentation for utility capital and operational projects.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, Business Administration, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 3–7 years of technical writing, project documentation, or project controls experience.
  • Experience developing and maintaining policies, procedures, manuals, reports, presentations, and project documentation.
  • Experience with document version control and document management processes.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle management and PMO processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Experience creating spreadsheets to compile and present large data sets.
  • Experience with document management systems and collaboration platforms.
  • Experience supporting compliance documentation and regulatory requirements.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting capital projects, engineering projects, construction projects, or utility operations.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry.
  • Experience with electrical utility infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with transmission, distribution, substation, generation, or grid modernization projects.
  • Experience with project controls documentation.
  • Experience with Primavera P6.
  • Experience with Oracle Unifier.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Experience with Maximo.
  • Experience supporting PMO methodologies and governance processes.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and maintain project management policies, procedures, manuals, white papers, reports, presentations, and related documentation.
  • Standardize technical and project controls documentation across capital and operational projects.
  • Maintain document version control and document management protocols.
  • Gather technical information from project managers, engineers, construction personnel, planners, regulatory teams, operations personnel, and other subject matter experts.
  • Translate complex technical and project information into structured documentation.
  • Coordinate requests for supporting documentation and project evidence.
  • Create spreadsheets and reports containing project, compliance, and performance data.
  • Support documentation requirements for transmission, distribution, substation, generation, and grid modernization projects.
  • Support PMO governance, project lifecycle, and documentation processes.
  • Identify and implement improvements to documentation workflows and processes.
  • Maintain project documentation in accordance with applicable policies, codes, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of project management methodologies and documentation standards.


Pay Details: $50.00 to $57.00 per hour
