Failure Analysis Engineer

Investigates product, material, manufacturing, and field failures using laboratory analysis and root cause methodologies to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturing performance.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical field.

• 3–5+ years of relevant engineering experience.

• Hands-on Failure Analysis and Root Cause Analysis experience.

• Experience investigating product failures, manufacturing defects, customer complaints, or field returns.

• Experience identifying failure mechanisms and determining root cause.

• Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as microscopy, metallography, cross-sectioning, SEM/EDS, X-ray analysis, or similar methods.

• Knowledge of structured root cause methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis, and/or Red X.

• Experience writing technical failure analysis and investigation reports.

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.

• Experience developing or supporting corrective and preventive actions.

• Must meet U.S. Person requirements under applicable ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with advanced materials characterization and laboratory failure analysis.

• Experience analyzing metallic, electronic, mechanical, or manufactured components.

• Experience supporting product reliability investigations.

• Experience working with corrective action systems and recurring defect reduction initiatives.

• Experience performing failure analysis throughout the product lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

• Investigate product, material, manufacturing, and field failures.

• Perform hands-on laboratory analysis to identify failure mechanisms.

• Analyze customer returns, manufacturing defects, and nonconforming components.

• Conduct microscopy, metallography, cross-sectioning, SEM/EDS, X-ray, and other applicable analytical testing.

• Apply 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis, Red X, and other root cause methodologies.

• Determine technical root causes of product and manufacturing failures.

• Document test methods, observations, analytical results, conclusions, and recommendations in technical reports.

• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements during investigations.

• Develop data-driven recommendations to improve product quality and reliability.

• Support corrective and preventive action activities based on investigation results.

• Provide technical findings to Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations functions.

• Support resolution of complex technical issues and recurring failure conditions.

• Identify opportunities to reduce manufacturing defects and field failures.

• Support product and manufacturing improvements throughout the product lifecycle.

Pay: 55-60/hr

Pay Details: $55.00 to $60.00 per hour
