Senior Buyer / Purchasing Specialist responsible for sourcing custom-manufactured components, managing high-volume purchase orders, and supporting low-volume/high-mix manufacturing requirements.

Job Requirements

  • 5–10 years of purchasing experience in a job shop, contract manufacturing, or low-volume/high-mix manufacturing environment

  • Experience purchasing sheet metal fabrications

  • Experience purchasing CNC machined parts or similar custom-manufactured components

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

  • Knowledge of GD&T

  • Ability to interpret material specifications and finish requirements

  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems

  • Experience generating and managing a high volume of purchase orders

  • Experience managing multiple open orders with varying production priorities

  • Experience negotiating pricing, lead times, and delivery requirements with suppliers

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Preferred Skills

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related technical field

  • Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes

  • Experience with laser cutting

  • Experience with punching

  • Experience with bending and forming

  • Experience with welding processes

  • Experience with surface finishing processes

  • Experience sourcing from CNC turning and milling suppliers

  • Knowledge of machining tolerances and manufacturing lead-time drivers

  • Experience supporting prototype manufacturing

  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs

Job Responsibilities

  • Source sheet metal fabrications, CNC machined parts, and other custom-manufactured components

  • Issue and manage purchase orders within ERP/MRP systems

  • Manage high volumes of open purchase orders and supplier commitments

  • Review engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, material specifications, and finish requirements before sourcing

  • Solicit supplier quotations and evaluate pricing, lead times, and manufacturing capabilities

  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms with suppliers

  • Track supplier deliveries and expedite materials as required

  • Manage supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and lead time

  • Support sourcing requirements for low-volume/high-mix manufacturing

  • Support prototype and NPI procurement activities

  • Coordinate purchasing requirements with engineering, manufacturing, and production planning

  • Maintain purchasing records, supplier information, and order status within ERP/MRP systems

  • Analyze purchasing and supplier data using Microsoft Excel

Pay: 80k-95k/year

Pay Details: $80,000.00 to $95,000.00 per year
