Repair, maintain, rebuild, and troubleshoot high-pressure die casting dies, trim dies, and associated tooling to support production availability and casting quality.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining high-pressure die casting (HPDC) dies and tooling.
  • Knowledge of die casting processes, die construction, and tooling materials.
  • Experience with die disassembly and assembly.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and tool room equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, tooling specifications, and CAD-generated prints.
  • Experience with die spotting, fitting, lapping, grinding, and polishing.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical systems.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on tooling.
  • Experience troubleshooting tooling failures and performing root cause analysis.

Preferred Skills

  • 3+ years of experience repairing high-pressure die casting tooling.
  • Technical training, apprenticeship, or certification in Tool & Die, Machining, or related field.
  • Experience with aluminum die casting operations.
  • TIG welding, laser welding, or tool steel repair experience.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining.
  • Experience with EDM equipment.
  • Experience with surface grinding and milling operations.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems, work instructions, or visual maintenance aids.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds on HPDC dies, trim dies, and associated tooling.
  • Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and reassemble die casting tooling components.
  • Diagnose tooling failures and determine corrective actions needed to restore production readiness.
  • Repair worn, damaged, or cracked tooling using welding, machining, polishing, grinding, and fitting techniques.
  • Perform spotting, fitting, lapping, grinding, and polishing of die surfaces.
  • Maintain cooling lines, vent systems, ejector systems, and moving die components.
  • Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Support die tryouts and production startups following repairs or modifications.
  • Perform emergency tooling repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Document preventive maintenance, repairs, tooling history, and performance data.
  • Recommend tooling modifications to improve die life, casting quality, and production performance.
  • Support engineering modifications and tooling improvement projects.
  • Maintain tooling according to applicable safety, environmental, and quality requirements.


Pay Details: $28.00 to $38.00 per hour
