Lead Mechanical Engineer
Leads mechanical engineering scope for large EPC power generation projects from design through execution, including equipment, piping, vendor coordination, schedules, budgets, resources, and technical deliverables.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- 15+ years of experience supporting EPC power generation projects.
- Direct experience executing EPC power projects.
- Experience serving as Lead Mechanical Engineer on large EPC power projects.
- Experience overseeing mechanical engineering and design personnel.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or eligibility for reciprocity with active pursuit of near-term licensure.
- Experience with combustion turbines (CTGs).
- Experience with steam turbines (STGs).
- Experience with Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs).
- Experience with power generation balance-of-plant equipment.
- Working knowledge of ASME B31.1 Power Piping requirements.
- Experience with EPC project execution, technical coordination, resource planning, schedule management, and budget management.
- Experience developing equipment RFQs and technical scopes.
- Experience evaluating vendor proposals and reviewing supplier documentation.
- Ability to maintain active status in a drug and/or alcohol testing consortium.
Preferred Skills
- Fossil fuel power generation project experience.
- Combined-cycle power plant experience.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3 Process Piping requirements.
- Experience performing field walkdowns.
- Experience coordinating directly with equipment vendors and suppliers.
- Experience reviewing mechanical equipment specifications, drawings, calculations, and vendor submittals.
- Experience supporting construction, installation, commissioning, or field execution activities on EPC power projects.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as Mechanical Engineering Lead for large EPC power generation projects.
- Manage the mechanical engineering scope from design through project execution.
- Provide technical oversight to mechanical engineers and designers.
- Coordinate mechanical design activities with other engineering disciplines.
- Develop and maintain mechanical engineering schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Monitor engineering progress against project schedule and budget requirements.
- Develop equipment RFQs, specifications, data sheets, and technical scopes of work.
- Evaluate supplier and vendor technical proposals.
- Review vendor drawings, calculations, data sheets, and technical documentation for compliance with project requirements.
- Support design and integration of combustion turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, piping systems, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Ensure piping designs comply with applicable ASME codes and project requirements.
- Coordinate technical requirements with clients, vendors, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Perform field walkdowns and support resolution of design and construction issues.
- Prepare engineering status reports and technical project documentation.
- Support technical issue resolution during design, procurement, construction, and project execution.
- Review engineering deliverables for compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
Pay Details: $165,000.00 to $210,000.00 per year
