Drafter III

Creates, reviews, and coordinates detailed drawings and material lists for pre-engineered metal building projects from design through fabrication release.

Job Requirements

• Two-year degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in the metal building industry.
• Experience developing bills of materials and installation drawings.
• 2–4 years of AutoCAD experience.
• 1–2 years of experience with MBS software.
• 1–2 years of experience with TEKLA.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and design requirements.
• Experience creating detailed fabrication and construction drawings.
• Experience reviewing drawings and material parts lists for accuracy prior to fabrication.
• Experience managing multiple drafting projects and project deadlines.
• Experience maintaining project documentation using Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Preferred Skills

• Experience designing Mini Storage projects.
• Experience designing Pre-Engineered Metal Building systems.
• Experience checking work produced by junior drafters.
• Experience coordinating outsourced detailing work.
• Experience maintaining pricing, design, and detailing data within MBS.
• Experience developing redline revisions and detailed building information.
• Experience leading complex drafting assignments.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and detail Mini Storage and Pre-Engineered Metal Building projects using MBS, AutoCAD, TEKLA, or comparable drafting software.
• Create detailed construction drawings, fabrication drawings, and material parts lists.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop design documentation.
• Review and check drawings and bills of materials produced by junior drafters prior to fabrication release.
• Produce redline revisions, design details, and building information for project requirements.
• Maintain accurate project data within MBS for pricing, design, and detailing activities.
• Coordinate project schedules, drafting workloads, deadlines, and design priorities.
• Participate in project pre-scheduling activities to align drafting timelines with project requirements.
• Manage outsourced detailing projects, including document preparation, transmission, review, revisions, and finalization.
• Maintain project tracking reports and drafting documentation within Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
• Provide technical guidance to less experienced drafting personnel.
• Support drafting process improvements focused on accuracy, rework reduction, and fabrication readiness.

Pay Details: $56,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year
