Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical experience
  • Four or more years of mechanical engineering experience preferred
  • Experience developing mechanical designs using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or comparable CAD software
  • Knowledge of mechanical design standards and industrial equipment requirements
  • Experience managing capital equipment projects from concept through installation and acceptance
  • Experience developing engineering estimates and technical project schedules
  • Experience preparing equipment specifications and procurement documentation
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering deliverables
  • Ability to travel approximately 5% domestically and internationally
  • Availability to support plant shutdowns, installations, commissioning, and startups on weekends or holidays as required

Preferred Skills

  • Industrial manufacturing or process-equipment experience
  • Tire manufacturing experience involving mixing, preparation, tire building, curing, or after-cure processes
  • FANUC or ABB robotic systems experience
  • Experience with equipment safety and ergonomic risk assessments
  • Experience managing contract engineering resources
  • Experience supporting plant maintenance teams after equipment installation
  • Experience with equipment qualification, ramp-up, and production acceptance

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs for process equipment additions, replacements, and upgrades
  • Manage mechanical capital projects from preliminary studies through final acceptance
  • Conduct design studies and pre-project evaluations for equipment deployment and development projects
  • Prepare engineering estimates for equipment, installation labor, design engineering, startup support, and travel
  • Develop and maintain project schedules covering design, procurement, fabrication, installation, startup, and qualification
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables from mechanical, electrical, automation, and other project contributors
  • Create equipment specifications and technical documents for requests for quotation
  • Support purchase-order development and equipment procurement activities
  • Track supplier design, fabrication, delivery, and equipment acceptance progress
  • Review supplier drawings, technical documentation, and equipment performance
  • Coordinate onsite equipment reception, installation, commissioning, startup, and production ramp-up
  • Manage equipment acceptance criteria with plant engineering, maintenance, and production teams
  • Track project costs and actual spending against approved estimates
  • Participate in equipment safety and ergonomic risk assessments
  • Provide technical direction to external engineering and equipment suppliers
  • Support equipment modifications and major capital projects from initiation through completion
  • Provide technical training and post-installation support to plant maintenance teams
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment issues during installation, commissioning, and startup
  • Support plant shutdown activities and scheduled production interruptions
  • Maintain mechanical drawings, project records, commissioning documentation, and acceptance records


Pay Details: $50.00 to $60.00 per hour
