Job Requirements

  • Experience leading a product or tooling design engineering team
  • Experience managing engineering projects, schedules, priorities, and workloads
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design software
  • Experience creating complex product and tooling geometries
  • Experience translating customer requirements into product and tooling specifications
  • Knowledge of thermoforming, plastic processing, and manufacturing methods
  • Experience designing or supporting production tooling
  • Experience reviewing and initiating engineering change orders
  • Experience managing product and tooling design files
  • Experience supporting product launches, prototyping, and sample approval activities
  • Experience coordinating with operations, process engineering, tooling, quality, and manufacturing teams
  • Knowledge of ISO, SQF, GMP, or comparable manufacturing standards
  • Experience with corrective and preventive action processes
  • Experience managing external tooling suppliers and vendor performance
  • Experience hiring, training, assigning work, and evaluating technical personnel
  • Experience enforcing manufacturing safety procedures

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the daily activities of the assigned on-site design team
  • Assign and prioritize engineering projects, work orders, and design tasks
  • Manage design schedules, project costs, technical requirements, and customer deliverables
  • Create and review complex product and tooling designs using CAD software
  • Translate customer needs into product, tooling, and manufacturing requirements
  • Coordinate concept development, prototyping, sample creation, approval, and product launch activities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to develop technical solutions
  • Coordinate tooling priorities with tooling and manufacturing leadership
  • Direct workload scheduling and resource allocation for the design team
  • Develop tooling specifications and support tool modifications
  • Procure tooling from external suppliers and monitor cost, quality, schedule, and technical performance
  • Support part approval and tooling acceptance activities
  • Hire, train, assign, and evaluate design engineering personnel
  • Establish technical development goals for design team members
  • Address performance issues through documented corrective actions
  • Enforce applicable workplace safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain compliance with ISO, SQF, GMP, and internal quality requirements
  • Develop and maintain documented design processes, work instructions, and engineering records
  • Analyze performance data to identify product, tooling, and customer-experience improvements
  • Review and initiate engineering change orders
  • Approve product specifications, deviations, and material substitutions
  • Support corrective and preventive action investigations
  • Provide technical direction for tooling repair and maintenance
  • Maintain product, tooling, and engineering design records
  • Support product lifecycle activities from initial development through production and end-of-life changes
  • Provide technical guidance to operations and process engineering teams
  • Review manufacturing applications for compliance with product and process specifications
  • Apply thermoforming and plastic-processing principles to product and tooling designs
  • Evaluate product performance, manufacturability, quality, cost, and delivery requirements
  • Maintain current knowledge of design methods, manufacturing technology, materials, and tooling practices


Pay Details: $95,000.00 to $105,000.00 per year
