Job Description:
Summary -
Primarily welds stainless steel pipe with Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding equipment as specified by engineered drawings or work order. Other metals and welding processes may be used but are more infrequent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Reads and interprets engineering drawings.
• Grinds and cuts metal to appropriate sizes.
• Sets-up production area to maximize efficiencies.
• Positions parts in fixtures, clamps on work bench and/or floor while using supporting stands to secure the part being worked on.
• Creates jigs when production quantities determine a need.
• Follows the Company’s welding procedure specification to ensure conformity between all welds.
• Safely moves gas cylinders and attaches them to fabrication equipment.
• Sets up welders in a way that conforms to the company’s welding procedure specification and performs diagnostic and basic maintenance to ensure the welding machine is running at optimal performance.
• Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
• Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts.
• Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces.
• Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions.
• Prepares joint to be welded by grinding or other processes prior to beginning welding.
• Removes and/or repairs any discontinuities from the weld before continuing the fabrication process.
• Cleans or degreases parts.

Requirements:
Qualifications -
• One year certificate from college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Welding certification is preferred.
• Ability to become ASME certified during the first few weeks (certification is supplied and paid for by us). Candidate must be able to pass a 3” 304 sch. 40 6g pipe test and a ½” 304 sch. 10 6g pipe test.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
• Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The employee is exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
