Position Description:
The Documentation / Usability Analyst position will work with medical device support platform to lead all activities related to the software platform’s customer-facing documentation and user interface. Responsible for the successful launch of the supporting documentation for each software release and all activities required to develop documentation content and ensure user interface needs are met. Accountable to the Software Manager and Program Manager for ensuring all documentation and user interface commitments are met and communicated in a timely manner.
Position Responsibilities:
• Understand software platform’s key functions, features, and workflows and develop content for user documentation.
• Work with Technical Communications and Marketing Communications groups to create user documentation by providing content and screenshots, and reviewing and editing drafts.
• Work with Program Manager to align development and completion of user documentation to project timeline and deliverables, including software system testing and releases.
• Work with system engineers and developers to understand high-level architecture and be able to identify fixes and changes to the software platform that would impact workflow, user interface, and user documentation.
• Work with the Marketing Communications group to create and/or update the software platform’s website pages, including creating content, defining web page structure and assets, reviewing and providing feedback on the development site, and managing the launch of the website in conjunction with the software platform releases.
• Understand requirements for new features and work with Human Factors Engineering group to design workflows and user interfaces that create ease of use and a positive experience for end users.
• Define consistent language for application messaging (informational, instructional, or error) that is clear and consistent across all medical devices supported by the software platform.
• Support the Human Factors Engineering group for all usability activities related to the software platform, including design sessions, usability testing, and final reviews.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or scientific discipline  
• 3+ years of software development lifecycle experience
• 3+ years of technical writing experience
• 3+ years of software design and usability experience
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in the medical device industry and supporting product development projects in an FDA regulated industry.  
• Ability to work independently; self-directed with self-managed supervisory reviews to ensure tasks align with the overall project strategy.  
• Ability to work in teams comprised of individuals with diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to Software Development and Testing, Technical Communications, Marketing Communications, and Human Factors Engineering.  
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including planning and organizing work streams, and managing tasks across multiple groups. Strong written communication skills.
• Technically savvy; must be able to discuss and understand high-level technical architectures, design features, and impacts of software development changes to the overall system.
• Strong and broad skills using the tools and techniques of user interface and usability design, website development, and the creation of user documentation.
• Additional degree in Writing, Communication, or Human Factors Engineering
