The Sr. Industrial Engineer, will work closely with Production and Manufacturing Engineering to enhance process controls, improve efficiency, and introduce LEAN practices to manufacturing.  The employee will demonstrate the ability to deliver quality, cost-effective and timely solutions in a multiple project environment. The Sr. Industrial Engineer will lead a cross functional team with the goal of improving production controls, line clearance, material flow, 5S, and productivity across two manufacturing sites.
• Use LEAN tools to improve production controls, line clearance, material flow, 5S, and productivity at sites in MN and TX.
• Lead a cross functional team with overall accountability for scope, schedule and budget.  Hold regular report-out meetings with Sr. Leadership
• Use mathematical methods and models to capture data to be used in decision making and to design manufacturing and information systems leading to process improvements, waste reduction, and improved performance.
• Facilitate kaizen events targeting key improvements to drive productivity, data management/collection, and paperwork handling improvements.
• Evaluate process improvements for operations (labor balancing, time studies, line setup, error proofing, assembly methods, etc.) to minimize downtime and rework.
• Study and design layout of equipment and workspace, material flow and operations sequence to improve efficiencies.
• Optimize methods of organization, quality & control within manufacturing.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or other Engineering discipline required.
• 5+ years’ experience leading LEAN initiatives within a medical device manufacturing environment
• Ability to self-start and lead cross functional initiatives with minimal work direction
• Familiarity with operating in an ISO 13485 environment.
• Significant experience with mistake-proofing, line clearance, and material flow.
• Ability to develop process maps, flow charts and floor layouts.
• Ability to analyze data and process inputs to justify improvements.
• Ability to assist in financial planning and cost analysis by estimating production labor and equipment costs.
• Ability to develop most efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy.
• SPC (Statistical Process Control) knowledge.
• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form.
• Strong technical writing and change management experience.
• Must be willing to travel up to 30%.
