Job Description:
Participate in design teams to verify functionality of embedded firmware during design phase.  Design, develop, and maintain a suite of test scripts and test equipment required for firmware validation. Test embedded firmware for network communications, industrial control, digital signal processing, and web applications.  Author test reports to document findings of verification tests.  Work with internal and external suppliers, Manufacturing, and Product Management to ensure product adherence to specifications. Schedule tasks from multiple sources to ensure successful and timely completion.
• Conduct standardized and product specific tests to verify product meets design requirements.
• Configure new devices with guidance of design team and engineering documentation.
• Setup PCs, Industrial Controllers, Sensors, etc. as needed to complete verification plan.
• Analyze results of automated and manual tests to ensure product adheres to specifications.
• Author test reports and other appropriate documentation required by product development process.
Design and Develop Test Scripts, Equipment, and Verification Plans -
• Collaborate with design engineers to author verification plans for new firmware components.
• Assume ownership of verification plans.
• Author test scripts for automated testing using C, JavaScript, VBA, or other similar computer language.
• Author test instructions for manual tests.
• Specify and request equipment required for verification plans.
• Participate in design and requirements reviews.
Assist with Engineering Change Orders -
• Author and submit engineering change orders
• Authority to approve requested changes
• Complete verification tests as needed based on design changes.
Support Production as Needed
Assist with Customer Support for Existing Products -
• Review failure and warranty reports when requested.
• Provide troubleshooting advice.
• Document product issues in bug tracking utility.
General Administration and Support -
• Remain current with all industry advances in electronic and industrial automation design.
• Respond to any questions dealing with firmware functionality.
• Maintain a personal task-list to ensure successful and timely completion of all assigned tasks.
• Actively support company and team goals and encourage team members to meet/exceed targets.
• Suggest improvements to existing practices and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requires a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering and 4-8 years of applicable experience in embedded firmware development or test.  Must be experienced with automated test methods.  Must possess good teamwork and communication skills and have the ability to interface with cross functional and distributed teams.
