Job Description:
The Sales and Controls Application Engineer (SAE) assists the Sales team as the primary technical resource for all new opportunities. The SAE is responsible for overseeing all phases of new programs and projects from inception to shipment to assure they meet both customer requirements and adhere to UL standards.
• Work with Customer and Sales to fully understand new opportunities and provide technical support during the initial investigation phase
• Review Customer designs and documentation to assure they meet applicable UL and NEC requirements
• Prepare Bills of Material (BOM) and labor estimates for new opportunities
• Work with various departments to identify any special requirement, tooling and/or investments that may be required to make the opportunity successful.
• Develop production documentation using CAD software
• Provide production support on pilot and prototype builds
• Work with customer to gather feedback on pilot units to implement on future builds
• Successful transitioning of stable business to the Production Engineering team.
• Mentor others in industrial control panel design
• Provide technical support to peers
• Attend technical or trade show meetings, read related publications and continue to achieve engineering excellence
• Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
• Provide technical support and oversight for projects requiring development with our proprietary automated software
• Ability to read, understand and absorb technical information
• Willingness to research and present solutions to new or complex problems
• Ability to work in a fast paced, changing and challenging environment
• Results oriented, schedule drive and accountable
• Good personal time management, capacity awareness and prioritization skills
• Ability to travel
• Calm under pressure, good communicator and customer service oriented.
• Thorough understanding of Industrial components and their application. This includes but is not limited to VFDs, Soft Starts, Contactors, Disconnects, PLCs, controllers, control components
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. OR Associates degree in Electronics.
• 2 years minimum industry experience.
• Must have UL 508A Control Panel Design experience
• UL 698, UL 698A is preferred but not required
• CAD experience
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Hands on manufacturing or repair experience is preferred
