PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
The Quote Engineer has primary responsibility for development, execution, tracking and communicating quoting activities for new and existing customers. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge development, manufacturing, electrical assembly, component level technical requirements and have excellent customer service skills. As such, the Quote Engineer must have knowledge and experience related to quoting assemblies as well as organizational and financial skills.
The Quote Engineer must be a problem solver. They must use their Engineering knowledge to ensure the product is quoted for maximum production efficiency, as well as ensure that critical Customer related requirements are appropriately identified, and product issues are resolved. They should be able to organize many details and manage multiple priorities related to customers. They must be able to communicate with cross functional personnel and management with equal effectiveness and professionalism
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
• Can establish the cost price based on the costs of purchase of the components and the equipment, the suppliers’ offers, service providers, the cost prices from the manufacture’s department, assembly information, etc.
• Develop value-added propositions and proposal writing.
• Evaluate, develop and implement alternative manufacturing methods.
• Suggest a sale price based on the cost prices.
• Provide timely, accurate quotes for customers and Sales and Marketing on new or revised products.
• Follow the quote during the steps of negotiations with the customer until the acquisition of the order (revisions, options) in association with the sales team.
• Can take part in start-up meetings, forward and explain (in collaboration with the sales team of the project) to the colleagues in charge of the project the elements of the quote (technical and budgetary, periods, deadlines, limits of supplies and the delivery).
• Work directly with customers to understand their processes and develop the best solutions for their requirements
• Manage new product programs from concept to delivery including Design, Quoting, Customer Coordination, Process Optimization and Manufacturing (startup through transfer to Manufacturing).
• Manage multiple programs in a structured, readily visible manner (Project Management).
• Ensure development of products and services that meet customer requirements.
• Provide engineering support to all different manufacturing areas and coordinate integration of individual technologies to facilitate the development of products and processes.
• Integrate existing processes and products into higher level assemblies.
• Instruct and aid manufacturing personnel in specific job set-up to facilitate production.
• Recognize and understand the customer’s needs, make suggestions for possible solutions, and quickly develop budgetary numbers
• Develops various projects as assigned and provides progress updates.
• Provide input for budgets and capital equipment acquisition.
 
Requirements:
• 4-year degree plus 5 years manufacturing engineering work experience or
• Master’s degree plus 3 years manufacturing engineering work experience
• Several years “job shop” experience
• Machining experience with exotic metals and micro-medical device components
• Major project management experience
• Team leader and membership training
• Read ISO procedures that apply to this position
Education required to advance
• Continued engineering education
• Project management and organizational classes as necessary
• SPC and OMIS training
• Team leader and membership training
