Job Description:
The Quality Manager is responsible for the functions of Quality and Documentation Services.  These functions support the operations of the business and ensure the organization executes on its objectives to produce quality products in an efficient manner and at a low cost.  The position will guide and manage a broad set of resources in support of aligned objectives.  The Quality Manager will work in collaboration with Engineering, Tooling, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Human Resources, as well as other groups to help the organization be successful.           
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Management -
1. Manage employee performance by prioritizing and guiding employee goals and activities.  Set expectations and provide feedback.  Ensure accomplishment.  Complete on-time performance reviews.  Create development plans for employees and create employee improvement plans as needed.  Staff to defined capacity levels and adjust to constraints.  Ensure staff is hired and trained as needed.  
2. Manage projects and initiatives, developing plans, determining activities and critical paths to deliver in required timeframes; managing resources and milestones to project completion.
3. Report on department performance, establishing and maintaining the metrics (KPI’s) that drive and validate performance; sharing the performance results as required and defined by management.
4. Drive Continuous Improvement.  Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products, processes and quality.  Reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
5. Participate on the Management Team Serve as a member of the company Management Team.  Help create a friendly, productive, energetic, and motivated company culture.  Align activities and work in a cross-functional manner to achieve goal.  Communicate and escalate matters of importance to the organization
Quality -
1. Monitor and Ensure Quality.  Guide and improve activities that ensure quality is achieved.  This includes on-line and batch inspection, quality lab activities, and auditing.  Measure and monitor performance in production areas.  Collaborate with Set-up Supervisor and Quality Supervisor to ensure tools and machines perform.  Participate in establishing practices like Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ) to ensure new equipment and tools perform.  Establish practices and perform Process Capability Studies (Cpk) as needed. Establish practices and perform Failure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA) as needed.  Report on quality status and trends.   
2. Solve Problems and Improve.  Apply logical investigative and troubleshooting thought processes to solve product and process issues. Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.  Identify and use Quality Lab equipment and metrology methods to diagnosis and problem solve.  Utilize outside laboratories for failure analysis testing, SEM, and other analysis.  Create collaborations between Engineering, Tooling, Quality and Manufacturing to solve problems and improve the quality of tools, machines and parts.  Participate on MRB and other improvement groups.  
3. Develop the Quality Management System Implement processes and programs that add value and comply with latest ISO quality standards and regulatory requirements.  Drive the creation of, SOPs, work instructions and forms that align and streamline working practice across the company.  Implement and utilize QMS systems such as CAPA to drive systemic improvements.  Participate in supplier agreements and related activities.  Serve as Quality Management Representative.  Ensure that regulatory matters are addressed through appropriate people.  
 
Requirements:
Qualifications:
• Associate, BS, or BA degree in related discipline, with a combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of successful experience in a Manufacturing, Process and Quality function with increasing levels of authority
•Must have strong experience with IQ, OQ, and PQ
• Must have strong experience with ISO13485, Lean Manufacturing and other operational practices.
• Must have strong experience setting up Quality Management System (QMS)
• Strong manufacturing background
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Detailed knowledge of the Microsoft suite of tools.
• Experience participating in and leading in multi-functional teams.
• Experience creating a positive, motivating team environment
• Some type of Six Sigma / Lean certification is a plus.
• Quality Manager Certification is a plus.
