Job Description:
This is a Sr. Supplier Quality Engineering position with focused product experience in aerospace, military and/or commercial-based quality systems. The good candidate must be a degreed mechanical engineer. Experience in manufacturing is desired. A mechanical engineer with quality assurance experience would be great but not necessarily. I’m will to provide training to a mechanical engineer who is willing to work in supplier quality engineering. Tasks will include reviewing and approving assembly drawings, purchase orders for flow-down of requirements and inspection plans to verify proper incorporation of workmanship standards, inspection requirements and configuration accountability. At times perform inspection of components and assemblies. Provide QA oversight and guidance for Suppliers, in-house inspectors, process and validate discrepancy reports, and concur in PRB/MRB dispositions. Additionally, the position will require clear and concise investigation and documentation of cause and corrective actions relating to procured nonconforming hardware. Will review data packages and prepare presentations for hardware acceptance reviews in preparation for source inspection. Experience with machine shops a plus. Strong GD&T skills are required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidate will have recent work experience in quality management systems (e.g. AS9100, ISO9001, TS16949 or equivalent) and other related standards. Must possess excellent written and oral communications, along with interpersonal skills that aid in achieving both primary and multi-departmental goals. Candidate musts have a work history of overall quality experience with four (4) or more continuous years with demonstrate knowledge of the high reliability workmanship standards and hardware/interfaces typical of the high-tech industry. Hands-on knowledge of inspection methods and techniques, the ability to work effectively with inspectors; both in-house and at Supplier locations. Candidate will need to review Statements of Work and First Articles. The candidate must have proven skills in developing and deploying continuous improvement initiatives to support supply base performance goals in supplier approval, surveillance, auditing, and quality rating. The ideal candidate will be required to work closely with engineering, mission assurance, material, and procurement professionals in the entire purchasing process to ensure the highest quality of procured hardware. This position is also responsible for the stream of supplier quality assurance contractual data and the subsequent report generation and publishing of performance metric's using Excel, Word and Power Point software and Lotus Notes. Travel is an essential function of this position (approximately 20-30%) and may be on short notice. This position requires prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking and the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for short distances. Ability to obtain 'For Official Use Only' (FOUO) security clearance required. A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or and minimum of 4 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ideal candidate shall possess related work experience working with mechanical assemblies, structures, and tooling. Should have a demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment, providing insight and solutions to complicated issues both technical and procedural.
 
Work related experience should demonstrate increasing levels of responsibility. Extensive Root Cause and Problem Solving experience is highly desirable. ASQ Certification (CQM, CQE) or Six Sigma training is a plus.
