Job Description;
Sr. Project Manager is accountable for the on-time, on-budget delivery of a business critical $5M project to deploy the systems and integrations enabling operating company to join the Southwest Power Pool. Participants in the regional power pool coordinate their energy supply and transmission resources to realize efficiencies and improve reliability across the energy grid. Will need to submit real-time energy system information and participate in the market pool to purchase and sell energy. System architecture is expected to model another power pool in which already participates. The Sr. PM is responsible for managing the project with a cross-functional team of IT, business and vendor resources. The Sr. PM will also forecast costs, track actuals, and explain variances.
Leads the project planning effort through company’s System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) waterfall methodology, including the definition of the deliverables and the required delivery dates, creation of a logical work breakdown structure, definition of major project milestones, and accumulation of all project cost and benefit estimates. Manages, prepares and produces project management reports, timelines, budgets, and documentation. Creates and manages project financials including budgeting, forecasting, actuals tracking. Identifies risks and issues and provides effective mitigation. Monitors project activities and resolves/escalates issues as needed.
• Minimum 10 years of project management experience, with management of a $5M project budget or greater.
• Proven experience managing enterprise software implementation projects for Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) systems and integrations.
• Proven experience managing requirements specification, design activities, build, testing and final deployment.
• Proven vendor management experience including SOW creation, financial control, and aggressively driving the vendor to meet date and budget commitments.
• Proven experience on a project with a large number of impacted users, (i.e., at least 200 users) and managing the associated change management.
• Experience in managing project budget forecasts, actuals and accruals.
• College degree preferred.
• Utility experience preferred.
