Job Description:
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join the Diagnostic Tools team. This position will lead, direct, and monitor the design and development of applications and hardware used by dealers, customers, and engineering teams for performing diagnostics, electronic controller reflash, and vehicle/component configuration on all product lines.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead cross-functional program teams to ensure all vehicles released to our customers/dealers are supported with a fully functional digital service support tool that includes service/repair guidance as well as the ability to enable features and perform vehicle and component configuration
• Direct and monitor diagnostic service tool development ensuring that all requirements are clearly defined, documented, and achieved.  Hold peer group reviews, as appropriate
• Plan project schedules, resources, and budgets
• Develop new product features, innovative approaches, breakthrough technologies, and improved processes. Perform benchmarking activities establishing industry best practices and drive roadmaps for the next generation of diagnostic service tools
• Manage both internal and external resources for development and validation efforts of diagnostic service tools.  Complete prompt troubleshooting and issue resolution to ensure customer satisfaction
• Lead technical discussions with electrical, powertrain, and system engineers during product development to ensure all vehicle functions, diagnostics, and communications are compatible with service tools
• Collaborate with I.S. and engineering teams to develop and maintain vehicle database infrastructures
• Interface with Powertrain, Electrical, and System Engineering Teams as needed for release of all calibrations via diagnostic service tools
 
Requirements:
• B.S. Engineering required, preferably in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering
• 3 or more years of program leadership or engineering project/design leadership experience, in similar industry.  5+ years preferred
• Experience with vehicle diagnostics and service tools required
• Experience with vehicle CAN communication networks required, additionally experience with J1939, UDS and IP implementations strongly preferred
• Familiarity/Experience with developing/managing/utilizing databases for application usage strongly preferred
• Strong technical background.
•Strong leadership skills and ability.
•Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
•Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence others. Demonstrated ability to form business inter-relationships with supporting managers, leaders, and staff.
•Decisive and prone to action. Must be Quality-oriented and customer focused.
•Excellent project planning, organizing, and administrative skills.
•Understands how program objectives, tools, and resources relate cross-functionally.
• Hands-on aptitudes/interest with strong attention to detail is key
•Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced development environment required
•Experience in effective problem solving and troubleshooting required
