Job Description:
The Portfolio Project Architect is a new position in the Operations IT Delivery portfolio, accountable to support up to 15 projects with technical project needs. The Portfolio Project Architect will support Project Managers, Project Architects and Project Technical Leads with establishment of portfolio level coordination and process direction across Enterprise Teams including Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure, and Security, as well as fulfillment of ad hoc/temporary project architecture needs for both Non-Production and Production environment needs.  The Project Architect / Technical Specialist is engaged with the development and testing of non-functional and technical requirements; coordinates software configuration, infrastructure deployment, integration development, and vendor technical activities; and collaborates with the project manager, SMEs, project architects, and enterprise architects. This assignment pertains to two immediate projects:
• Transmission Substation Transient Cyber Asset pertains to the design and deployment of a ruggedized laptop appliance that is secured and configured to connect to our substation cyber assets for testing and maintenance.
• Enterprise Synchrophasor which involves the deployment and integration of Transmission Substation measurement devices to our electric grid analytical and SCADA systems. Summary of Responsibilities:
• Work with the Project Architects, Infrastructure, and Service Delivery teams to coordinate hardware ordering and setup of test, development and production environments.
• Work with the Project Architects, Infrastructure, and Service Delivery teams to coordinate software installation and configuration.
• Work with the Project Architects to design and implement application and data integrations.
• Lead and perform technical testing and issue resolution of hardware, software, and integration platforms.
• Work closely with PM, providing status updates on risks, issues and tasks completions.
 
These tasks include:
• Develop artifacts to be used in downstream SDLC phases.
• Assist with hardware requisition as well as setup and management of test, development and production environments.
• Provide leadership to in-house and vendor technical resources from design to solution.
• Serve as liaison to other teams involved in project, coordinating integration work.
• Work with the PM to coordinate environments, technical resources, and testing activities.
• Manage functional and performance testing activities.
• Work with software vendors as needed to coordinate software deliveries, drive / conduct root cause analysis on bugs, provide / clarify detailed information on bugs, etc.
 
Requirements:
o Minimum 10 years of experience testing and implementing application systems.
o Familiarity with all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including requirements, planning, high level and detailed design, execution, testing and defect remediation, and implementation.
o Experience working in the utility industry.
o Experience with Software Development and Design with languages such as .NET or JAVA and Object-Oriented Design
o Experience with application and database integrations (e.g., ETL) and Web Service Integrations
o Experience with data model design
o Proven experience in functional and technical architecture, design and development, testing support, and system integration. Skill Set Preferences:
o Familiarity with Transmission Substation solutions and commercial packages.
o Familiarity with Critical Infrastructure Protection guidelines. o Familiarity with Rational Team Concept or similar. Technical experience in:
o Integrating IT systems using relational database, Web Services, message driven architecture and Service Bus.
o Functional and performance testing tools.
o Oracle relational databases.
o Oracle/SQL.
