Job Description:
The right candidate will be able to hit the ground running, and perform a number of crucial tasks for the department such as: Supplier Validation, Failure Analysis, Materials Testing, Supplier Processing Improvements,
and Specification Creation. Candidates who are able to showcase a knack for critical thinking, setting priorities, and multitasking effectively will be top contenders. This position will interact with a large (8-12 member) team, and interface with suppliers and other vendors on behalf of the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Materials processing subject matter expert directing: design, manufacturing and suppliers
• Responsible for prioritizing and managing work flow across multiple projects
• Work closely with Materials Laboratory Technicians to outline required analysis
• Lead failure analysis projects and coordinate appropriate testing with internal and external resources
• Periodic sample preparation and analysis required
• Develop internal materials characterization methods and resources to meet the needs of project teams
• Integrate with cross functional team to provide rapid response to production and design challenges
• Drive continual education and development of materials related knowledge throughout the organization
• Responsible for implementation of material test specifications and standards
 
Requirements:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Preferred candidate will have a Bachelor of Science or Masters of Science in Materials and Science or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Equivalent degrees or experience may be considered.
• 3 years of relevant work experience required.
• Manufacturing and new product development experience desired
Desired skills include:
• Understanding and application of heat treat principles for ferrous and nonferrous materials.
• Processing and characterization knowledge of corrosion inhibiting coatings for aesthetic and functional purposes, including but not limited to Chrome, Zinc, anodizing.
• Knowledge of steel and aluminum forging experience including die design, processing limitation and quality control practices.
• Design and manufacturing experience with tube fabrication and welding processes including HSLA steels.
• Ductile and gray Iron processing and characterization
• Non Ferrous metal high pressure and gravity casting knowledge and specification.
• Nondestructive testing knowledge and process development including Radiography, Ultrasound, Eddy current and penetrant inspection.
