Job Description:
Minimal work direction needed, highly skilled and knowledgeable to the position and provides best practicing sharing within work group. Includes all major EHS activities, so that it can be applicable to individuals with a variety of EHS responsibilities. Identifies, initiates, plans, recommends, promotes, and implements broad EHS programs and projects at Division/Business/Region/Corporate level. Independently identifies required plans, business justification, resources, schedules, and interactions to accomplish objectives. May: a. Identify training and communication strategies; b. Create major EHS processes or systems (e.g. compliance, auditing, incident response); c. Assemble and lead investigative teams to address serious EHS incidents and develop reaction/resolution plans; d. Lead EHS audit or self-assessment programs; e. Lead a corporate Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) program; and/or f. Influence development of external EHS standards, guidelines and/or regulations and internal policies, influence facility and/or Business processes to address EHS considerations, and lead EHS impact reduction within and outside assigned organization.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Oversight of environment, health and safety, and security programs and performance for the facilities.
• Foster teamwork with manufacturing, quality, Division Engineering and other staff groups to ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies and requirements, and identification and control of EHS risks.
• Drive EHS improvement projects within the facility that improve efficiency, effectiveness and reduce risk.
• Plans and implements EHS policies, programs and procedures and training in compliance with local, state and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
• Conduct and participate in EHS audits. Assist with prioritization and tracking of corrective action items.
• Complete routine internal and external EHS compliance reports and associated data analysis.
• Lead investigation of EHS incidents.
• Develop and report EHS metrics.
• Perform new hire safety orientation as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in environment, health, and safety or engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum [3] years’ experience in environment, health, and/or safety.
• Minimum [3] years’ experience in manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors and/or Master’s Degree in Safety and Health or related field
• Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, and/or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager
• Experience with EHS program development, implementation and management
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute projects
• Self-starter with strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills (oral and written)
• Other preferred skills include strong team building skills, the ability to set and achieve priorities, strong organizational skills, attention to detail and a sense of urgency.
• Bilingual in Spanish would be a plus.
