Job Description:
Electrical Machine Designer -
• Assist in the creative development of new and innovative machine concepts which will economically and reliably meet all engineering and customer specifications
• Develop layouts and models of individual (and assembly) machine or tooling components
• Develop layouts and models of new machines and establish dimensions and tolerances required to ensure proper form, fit and function
• Monitor project design and drafting activities and inform supervisor, lead, and project leader of potential problems regarding cost, quality and duration of design work
• Monitor print quality to help ensure that all drafting work is accurate and complete per established drafting standards and specification.
• Evaluate and select common purchased components which are readily available and which will perform reliably at a favorable cost
• Perform design calculations and identify areas requiring more intensive analytical work for the purpose of supporting the integrity of the design
• Mentor less experienced personnel
• Provide input into the improvement of departmental systems and processes
• Assist in developing pneumatic schematics for new and existing machines
• Attend, lead and coordinate meetings with other departments in support of the design process
 
Requirements:
Candidate Qualifications:  
• Two-year technical college degree in Electrical/Mechanical Design & Drafting or equivalent
• Minimum of three years’ experience in the design or manufacturing of mechanical components or equivalent
• Experience with automated manufacturing equipment preferred
• Panel layouts & interconnects with Pro-E Wildfire 4.0
• Schematics with AutoCAD Electrical 2013
•Load sizing
•Ladder logic
• Understanding of GDT I & II
• Good understanding of how accuracy affects quality, cost and duration of a project
• Good mathematical aptitude and computer literacy
• Demonstrated ability to select materials and plating/coatings based on desired characteristics and application requirements
• Demonstrated ability to design and develop manufacturing, automation, and process control systems
• Demonstrated understanding of machining and fabrication processes used to develop manufacturability designs
