Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY:
Participate in design teams to create standard and custom electronic devices. Work with R&D team, internal and external suppliers, Manufacturing, and Product Management to develop, document, and track product specifications.  Develop and track project scope, timeline, and budget.  Prepare project update reports for development team and upper management.  Work with other departments throughout the development process to develop projects on time and on budget.  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and Develop Standard Products as well as Custom Standard Product Derivatives
1.1 Assume technical ownership of development projects
1.2 Develop technical specifications including design requirements, risks, and issues
1.3 Delegate tasks and responsibilities as laid out in the project plan
1.4 Participate in design reviews
1.5 Work with manufacturing to introduce new products to production
2. Provide system design expertise for both electronic and industrial automation systems
3. Assist with Engineering Change Orders
3.1 Author and submit engineering change orders
3.2 Authority to approve requested changes
3.3 Support changes to manufacturing and customer documentation
4. Support Production as Needed
5. Assist with Marketing Feasibility Analysis for Potential New Products
5.1 Assist with conceptual designs, customer presentations and design reviews
5.2 Provide approximate project and product cost estimates
5.3 Assist with development risk assessment
5.4 Assist with justification of development
6. Project Management Responsibilities:
6.1 Work with internal and external suppliers, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to assure project meets time, cost, and technical requirements
6.2 Track project status and communicate progress to stakeholders and the leadership team
6.3 Recognize up and downstream impacts
6.4 Facilitate development of and maintain project plans and schedules using computer tools
6.5 Oversight of test planning, testing and technical deployment
7. General Administration and Support
7.1 Interface with external and internal suppliers to introduce new electronic designs
7.2 Remain current with all industry advances in electronic and industrial automation design
7.3 Respond to any questions dealing with electronic design
7.4 Maintain a personal task-list to ensure successful and timely completion of all assigned tasks
7.5 Actively support company and team goals and encourage team members to meet/exceed targets
7.6 Suggest improvements to existing practices and procedures
7.7 International and Domestic travel 1-2 times per year is required
 
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Bachelor’s of Science in Systems, Electrical, or Computer Engineering or equivalent and 4-8 years of applicable experience in product development or related field.  The qualified candidate will have strong systems engineering skills and understand how to develop technical specifications.  Strong project management skills, understanding of project budgeting and reporting, and excellent communication and leadership skills are also required.
