Job Description:
The CNC Field Service Technician will have an extensive understanding of CNC machine tool controls, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics to effectively detect and resolve issues with electrical and mechanical components, and perform ball bar and laser calibration.  
• The CNC Field Service Technician will perform repairs and preventive maintenance for the metal fabrication industry including CNC, PLC, Laser, etc.
• Travel to customer sites to install, troubleshoot repair and maintain machine tool equipment and controls for customer organizations.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics, electronics, and software, electrical, pneumatic and mechanical systems.
• Use machine tool manuals, technical documents, internal and vendor resources to research machine issues.
• Equipment may include Haas, Citizen, Makino, Fanuc, Kia, Mori Seki, Mitsubishi, Cincinatti-Milicron, Bridgeport, Mazak etc.
• Communicate with the customer to determine machine problem.
• Identify and replace parts as necessary. Test and make adjustments.
• Ability to troubleshoot resourcefully in the field with minimal product support.
• Communicate with the customer while on-site. Follow-up with customer after the repair is complete.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Complete all required paperwork and/or data entry in a timely manner.
• Other miscellaneous duties and responsibilities as required by the position.
• Perform ball bar and laser calibration and diagnosis on machine tools.  (Company will provide training for this, if needed.)
 
Requirements:
Candidate Qualifications:
• Demonstrated high degree of industrial mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic aptitude, electrical aptitude, and repair abilities
• Required:  At least two years of experience or education working with CNC machine tools and their controls, or industrial electrical/electronic AC and DC components, including PLCs, controls, motor controls, transformers, servo drives and drive systems.
• Experience in machine tool programming, preferred.
• Basic knowledge and use of fabrication and machining equipment, such as milling machines, lathes, band saws and grinders to fabricate parts, preferred.
• Computer skills:
• Some practical experience in the machine tool industry and knowledge of CNC controls is desirable; however, the company is willing to train the right person.
• Ability & desire to work independently.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Research and purchasing of required parts from vendors
• Provide detailed report for billing and purchases for parts.
• Communicate frequently with Manager on the status of repairs, PM’s and projects and schedule.
• Computer skills; Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
• Experience with any type of maintenance management software, preferred.
• Degree or certificate in a field related to machine tools or robotic programming or machine servicing, preferred.
• Strong time management, prioritization, multi-tasking, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Positive, collaborative, responsible, and open-minded attitude.
• Ability to apply good judgment and make decisions independently.
• Effective professional communication skills both written and verbal.
• Can represent themselves, the department and the company in a professional manner at all times.
• Ability to work well and effectively communicates with office and customer personnel.
• Ability to lift up to 35lbs., stand, walk, bend/stoop on a regular basis
• Limited overnight/weekend travel.
