Job Description:
The buyer/planner is responsible for source selection and procurement functions directly associated production materials, services,  some indirect materials and services, fixed assets, and tooling.
• These products and services are to be secured at cost quality and at delivery competitive levels consistent with company policy and performance standards. The position is further responsible for the timely planning and scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services.
• Generate Bills of Material (BOM) - Create and Update BOM's (Bill of Materials) in QuickBooks based on Drawings received from drafting department.
• Have the ability to identify  items in drawings  such as sheetmetal,  weldments,  and machined parts when creating BOM's.
• Update BOM's as need to reflect changes created by ECO's, revision changes or other process changes.
• Verify BOM's accuracy in Rubber Production.
• Monitor Sales Orders and reorder/replenish inventory as needed.
• Send out quote requests and all related documentation to vendors.
• Create and Issue Purchase Orders for materials based on pricing, lead-time, and other job specific conditions.
• Create and Issue Purchase Orders for Temporary Worker's Payroll as approved by area supervisors.
• Research and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
• Assist with Production scheduling.
• Maintain, update and verify various Production spreadsheets.
• e.g. Production Charts, Negative Inventory Reports.
• Work to find lower cost sources and cost reduction opportunities.
• Notifies peers and/or manager with any concerns regarding the possibility of nonconforming product or environment.
• Work closely with company departments and vendors to document and resolve any none conforming part issues. Including generating any ECO's or other document updates  that eliminate future issues.
• Schedule and perform or work with others to ensure cycle counting of inventory is performed throughout the year.
• Manage and coordinate yearend inventory count.
• High School  Diploma,  GED, or sufficient  experience  pertaining to this position.
• 2 or more years in a similar role
• Accurate data entry skills
• High level of attention to detail.
• Ability and desire to  meet or exceed deadlines.
• Adequate computer knowledge and proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with QuickBooks a plus
