Job Duties:
 
• Analyzes and optimizes designs for fatigue life considerations.
• Performs analysis of systems required to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Assists and directs the design work of Design Engineers, Senior Designers, Designers and Drafter.
• Effectively communicates and explains analysis results and reports to clients.
• Creates FEA (Finite Element Analysis) reports following established formats that are complete, accurate and professional.
• Refines FEA models and iterate analysis runs to improve accuracy and optimize designs.
• Interprets kinematic and dynamic analysis results for validity and draws accurate conclusions.
• Interprets stress and deflections analysis results for validity and draws accurate conclusions.
• Troubleshoots and repairs FEA models that fail to mesh or solve.
• Applies boundary conditions accurately to FEA models.
• Investigates, identifies and quantifies all boundary conditions relations to physical systems.
• Constructs FEAS models of assemblies with techniques representative of the physical system (welds, bolted joints, etc.).
• Performs design model defeaturing and simplification in order to create accurate FEA models.
• Demonstrates ability to identify when and there are problems with analysis results or supporting calculations.
• Applies logic and reasoning to evaluate complex design solutions and associated costs and benefits.
• Constructs shear and bending moment diagrams of parts and systems.
• Creates Free Body Diagrams and analyzes static equilibrium problems for complex systems.
• Utilizes engineering resources (handbooks, catalogues, and internet) to select correct information and formulas to solve complex engineering problems.
• Reviews and analyzes specifications and reference information to assess factors affecting designs and analyses to be performed.
• Demonstrates good engineering problem documentation (problem statement, assumptions, references, conclusions, etc.).
• Demonstrates ability to inspect equipment, parts and materials to identify causes of failure in physical stress testing, Accelerated Driven Verification (ADV) testing and field failures of various customer machine designs.
 
Job Requirements:  
• Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 1 year of experience in the job offered or in a Mechanical Engineering related role;
• Experience with mechanical design in relation to vehicles or heavy machinery; and
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis, Hypermesh and Hypergraph.
